Not a book for everyone...

Unfortunately this book really didn't do it for me. While my reading genres range from rom com to dark, I always read to be entertained and this story wasn't something I personally enjoyed. It's definitely dark. Really dark. I saw somewhere it was said this is "the next 50 Shades." It's not. 50 Shades was naughty taboo things that made you think "ooh that's hot, maybe I'd want to try that in the bedroom myself." There is NOTHING you would want to "try" personally in this book unless you were a complete sadist.
Personally, I love dark reads. K Webster, Ker Dukey, Pepper Winters...their books are all right up my dark alley. But for me to enjoy a dark read, there has to be some redeeming qualities, things have to be made right. Buttons and Lace is in a completely different "dark" category. While the writing itself was okay I felt like maybe the delivery could have been more palatable. This book was just straight up depressing and full of ugly, unspeakable things to me. All of the sex was forced. Not in a "ooh yeah tie me up baby" kind of way. No, it was straight up repeated rape, brutal beatings, sex slaves and human trafficking. All. Of. It. I say this as a warning because everyone is different and enjoys different things. I know some people who will be dying to get their hands on this. The darker the book for them, the better. So if that's the kind of read you enjoy and are entertained by, you'll love this book. Go 1-click right now! If you're more like me where you like the dark journey as long as you find the redeeming light and HEA at the end of the tunnel, this book isn't going to do it for you. So proceed with caution either way. If you have any triggers, here's a warning: don't buy this book because they're basically all included in this story.

So much false advertising!! Poorly written book - A waste of time & money.

FALSE ADVERTISING ALERT! I made the mistake of buying this book. IT'S NOT the #1 book in the world (It's not even close)! The "#1 book in the world" wouldn't be ranked so low on amazon. Also it' NOT SELLING OUT in stores! Barnes & Noble doesn't even carry it. I HATE BEING LIED TO! I knew something was fishy when B&N explained that they'd never heard of nor did they carry the book in any stores. I finally broke down & purchased the book after seeing so many ads ("bigger than Fifty Shades" HAHA yah right). The book was poorly written & the story was absolutely not sexy. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this book (Was really difficult to finish book). The story itself was disturbing. A lot of rape & beatings (not at all sexy).
If you want a series that compares to Fifty Shades I would recommend The Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day! Also I would highly recommend books by K. Webster, J. Kenner, Maya Banks, Pam Godwin, Pepper Winters, Laurelin Paige ....

Ridiculous and unbelievable and violent storyline wrapped up in one expensive read for me

Not sure why anyone would give this book more than 2 stars, the two stars I'm giving this book is only out of respect for the author's attempt and I mean loud and clear ATTEMPT to write a good read. This book for me was a complete and utter disappointment, I thought it was going to be really good, I believed the hype before the release, had I known the full context of the subject matter before I pre ordered I would have probably passed. All I can say is here is yet another violent female human trafficking storyline that was too violent to enjoy on any level for me, this is not a fictional romance read this is a violent upsetting female abusive read.God were to begin, ok first off this subject matter is so upsetting and also not believable how this author makes you cringe and roll your eyes at the same time all the way throughout this read was shocking to me but it's true for me .From a 4 person rape scene of our main character to her jailer playing hide go seek with her with a baseball bat ,telling her go hide and when I found you I'll beat you with it and so much worse was grossly painful to read.Then to Crow I just can't believe he couldn't go and save his own sister from the clutches of this madman yet he sees Pearl with him and he and his crew invade the home of the same madman that held his sister for months and saves Pearl in a matter of a week or two tops,Huge eye Roll !!!.Please Ms.Sky that doesn't even work or make any sense.This story went from utter anal violence to utter nonsense and unbelievable storytelling like whip lash.I could go on for hours but I'll just say not worth the money or my time, this is no romantic dark love story ,it's just a human trafficking violent story that is filled with unbelievable scenes,unbelievable explanation of character action and total nonsense zero plausibility to a degree that you will want to say "are you serious???? ",what !!!!!???? and you have got to be kidding me !!!!!.It's a ridiculous and violent storyline wrapped up into one and I'm sorry I ever ordered this book ,thinking of demanding a refund and I rarely do that.I won't be ordering the other two books that go with this series, one and done with these books.If your looking for a much more in depth and plausible story about human trafficking I can recommend author CJ Robert's books "Dark Duet Series, or Tight by Alessandro Torre, or Stay by Emily Goodwin at least in my opinion those books were well written and believable even though the subject matter is brutal.
