Didn't work for me unfortunately.....

I not only read the book (3 times) , but also paid extra for and did the entire online course and went through the workbook / online videos etc, where you also get daily email feedback from Adam Heller and his team. I persisted with the process for about 5 months and in the end, I don't believe my pain level overall, (as the pain level always does vary from day to day and week to week) was really any better at all.
The idea that suppressed negative emotions affect your pain level and location I do believe is true for some conditions, but I don't think all. For example, in my situation I have some severe arthritis (near bone on bone) which is the source of my pain.

The education about how suppressed emotions can impact on your health is probably the one positive I have carried away from this experience.

My Conclusion: Not recommended if you have diagnosed severe arthritis, but may possibly help in other pain conditions that have an emotional component.

A life changer and must-read for pain sufferers

I read Adam Heller's book after suffering from shoulder and neck pain for several years. I had tried resting, physical therapy, and all kinds of exercises. Nothing was working! In the book, Adam Heller walks the reader through a new way of thinking about pain, and its causes. He then prescribes written exercises, once a day, for a month, which took me about 20-30 minutes daily. Literally during the month of reading this book and doing the required written exercises in it, my pain went away, and is still gone, 2 months later. Now I can get out and bike and do all the other things I enjoy doing. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Adam!

I got this because Michigan State Police suggested it for their hiring interview and I believe it helped me alot! I would recommend it for anyone going into a structured panel interview, oral boards, or anything where you need to prepare situational responses.

A good basic book with helpful advise

I have pulled this book off my shelf many times over the last 9 years to aid friends and family during their stalled job searches. It offers basic helpful advise on how to stand out from other candidates during the interview process. A candidate cannot possibly know whether a company uses Targeted Selection but that is beside the point. Giving behavioral answers to non- behavioral questions asked by interviewers really helps a candidate stand out! Sure it's a tad simplistic , but that is what makes this workbook's advise so easy to understand and follow. The pre-interview prep is priceless.

Not only did this book help me change shift my career to a new industry. it has successfully aided several of my friends and at least one family member.

This book was Fantastic! It gave me great examples, and allowed me to practice with real work oriented questions. This allowed me to prepare the upcoming promotional opportunity within my company. I feel that I am now relaxed and fully prepared to do the best that I can. I have and would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in seriously getting promoted. It will work, you just have to do the work and read the book. It's that Easy.

Great set of plans! Novices may need more directions.

This is an excellent set of steam engine plans, especially for novice engine builders who have even a little bit of experience. They are well drawn, and the drawings are large enough to be easily read and used (important for someone with my aging eyes!)

For anyone just starting to build engines, you need to be aware that this is a set of plans (measured drawings.) While they are excellent plans, they do not contain a detailed, step-by-step set of instructions for how to machine and assemble the engines. If you first build a couple of engines using plans that have instructions, or even assemble an engine or two from kits, then you can easily figure these out for yourself.

The engines built from these plans are also large enough in size (and/or scale) to make them easier for beginners to build. Up to a point, the larger the size of the finished engine, the more forgiving the dimensions are for new machinists. If you get much larger than the engines in this book, however, it becomes more difficult and expensive to find or buy the raw materials, and you may need larger tools to machine the parts. So...size-wise, these are a really good designs for models.

Finally, the designs have been simplified somewhat, i.e., they don't have all the tiny bells and whistles of a full size steam engine, like governors, etc. These are nice but add to the complexity of getting your engine assembled and running. However, if you know how to build these extras, you could easily add them to these designs. For example, some of the photos in the book show lubricators on the engines, however, the lubricators are not shown in the plans. Once you know how to make a simple lubricator, they are easy enough to build and add to your engine.

So, as long as you've at least assembled an engine or two and know how the parts go together, you should enjoy building the engines in this book. As I said, it's an excellent book, and I believe it is one of the better sets of steam engine plans that I have ever found at any price. Good luck!

Only drawings and no instructions

Be aware buyer. Rudy desgined and constructed wonderful steam models and this book has several of his designs. The drawings are clear although a bit dated, all dimensions are imperial. The book only contains drawings and no explanations about how to manufacture the parts therefore, there are not any suggestions about the machinery or the tools needed to make the models. I think that this book is not for the newcomer since it requires a good understanding of the machine shop operations. It is also necessary to consider that the book makes no reference to boilers, lubricators, pressure gauges nor any auxiliar equipment for running the engines. Nevertheless I think that any person with a intermediate level of skill at the machine shop will be able to make the models. Then again, any model engineer with a bit of experience will find these plans useful.

WORKING STEAM ENGINES

The book title should be changes to toy or model steam engines since there are no plans for anything but tiny engines.If you are looking for plans to build a steam engine that can actually do some work this book is not for you.If you are looking for plans to build a toy engine, these plans are not complete but a real machinist should be able to fill in the blanks and finish the design work and make something that will run for a little while.

good beginning story

The book has alot of end notes. This is fine for my purposes because I like to know about the facts, but as far as the story went, I did not quite believe the "skinhead girl" for character. I felt like the author researched her way into a story, but the story did not have a human quality to it.
